Off Leash with Dr. Pete
Presented by Voyager Dog Food Co. Dr. Pete Vanvranken gives us a deep dive into dog related health topics. From how to help your dog if they’ve eaten something they shouldn’t have to new and exciting treatments for your best friends, we cover many different dog related topics on the Off Leash Podcast. As a vet of 49 years, Dr. Pete has what he calls “the privilege and duty” to help animals lead their best lives. Ask him his favorite part of the job and he’ll tell you it’s two-fold - partnering with his clients to solve their pets’ health challenges and striving to provide those same pets with long, healthy lives. And that’s our goal with the Off Leash Podcast: to educate dog owners and to advocate for your pet. Listen along with us and leave us a review!

This week we sit down with Dr. Pete to talk about food allergies and what you’re feeding your pets. Dogs and cats have intolerance to many different food items that humans have no trouble eating. Giving your dog or cat table scraps and other human food can be detrimental to their overall health and wellbeing. We talk about your pets diet and what’s safe to give them for treats and snacks! This week we talk about a topic that has an effect on almost all pet owners at some point: medication. Some people have asked us how they go about testing drugs and figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Dr. Pete has spent years working with different drugs and drug companies and he shares his insight into how we go from a new drug idea, to something being used by veterinarians nationwide. We hope this conversation gives you a little peace of mind when it comes to trusting your vet and what they think is best for your pet! Thanks for listening and be sure to subscribe and review!

This week on the Off Leash Podcast we’re talking about a difficult topic: Euthanasia. Putting your pet down is one of the most difficult decision you can be forced with making. It’s so hard to know what your pet really needs and even more difficult to know when it’s time to do what’s best for them. Many animal owners have been through this and though it’s hard to talk about, we wanted to cover a range of topics that play a role in this decision. Thanks so much for listening and be sure to subscribe and review!

The Off Leash Mission
We started the Off Leash Podcast because we wanted to share information with pet owners that could make a difference in the way you care for your animals. Our podcast is closely related to our dog food brand, Voyager Dog Food. Voyager is a passion project that was born from a need for change in the dog food industry. Look us up and see why! When it comes to your animals we're not here to say what you want us to say, we're here to be an advocate for your pets! Like we always say, treat the treatable and prevent the preventable. Thanks for listening!
